Our Mission

From the ground to the cup

The Beyond Co Coffee Training Programme gives each trainee a deep understanding of the coffee business — from the ground to the cup. That's the craft of coffee itself, but also payment systems, computer skills, managing costs against revenue, English fluency, and how to work well with difficult customers in a business context. The programme is built to prepare people for real careers, not just to make a good cup.

The training runs over six months — three of learning, three of doing. The first three months are the material training: the course curriculum that grounds each trainee in the fundamentals.

The next three months are the application. Trainees take over and run a small coffee shop placed inside a school — serving great coffee to the teachers while managing the shop themselves. Real work, real pressure, real skill-building — with our support alongside them.

At the end of the six months, each graduate leaves with a certificate detailing the skills they've acquired, plus a full SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) certification — the highest-held standard in the coffee world.

Our mission is for this training to chip away at growing unemployment in our communities, and to give every graduate a more stable foundation to build on.
